Deputy Sheriff Positions

The applicant must complete several steps before a conditional offer of employment is made. The applicant must complete and pass the following: Civil Service Exam, application, panel interview, physical ability course, polygraph, medical exam, psychological exam, thorough background investigation and the Sheriff’s Hiring Board.

Civilian Specialist Positions

The Civilian Specialist is a non-sworn position assigned in the Detention Bureau. An applicant must complete several steps before a conditional offer of employment is made. The applicant must complete and pass the following: application, panel interview, polygraph, medical exam, psychological exam, thorough background investigation and the Sheriff’s Hiring Board. 

Crime Lab Positions

Collect, identify, classify, and process evidence collected from crime scenes. Use this evidence to help investigators identify the methods used to commit crimes, the types of materials present, and possible suspects. 

CLERICAL AND SUPPORT STAFF

Duties such as answering phones, sorting, and filing documents, taking and distributing messages.  Some duties may also include compiling office activities and records. Currently, open positions include: Security Specialist, Fleet Service Technician III, and Security Technician.

At the Sheriff’s Office, employees have many opportunities to specialize and develop within a chosen career path, there are plenty of chances for employees to continue their education and promote into a supervisory position.

Internships

The Sheriff’s Office Internship Program is designed to allow college students an opportunity to observe law enforcement operations, learn more about the law enforcement environment and be mentored by trained professionals.
